MoneyLaunch: Building Money Skills for Young People

MoneyLaunch is a free financial literacy programme from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), helping Key Stage 3 students develop confidence in managing money. Through nine topics, practical activities and personal reflection, it explores financial priorities, money attitudes and everyday decisions. Its public description focuses on foundational money management rather than the broader total wealth planning question of how money, time, health, relationships and purpose combine to shape a fulfilling life.

It appears to teach foundational money management—neither explicit product training nor total wealth planning.

The public website describes nine topics for Key Stage 3 learners, with money personalities, financial priorities, practical scenarios and personal reflection. Its emphasis is on understanding and managing money. I found no evidence on that page of promoting particular financial products. Free Financial Literacy Programme for Schools

Through your total wealth planning lens, the distinction is:

Approach

Starting question

Product education

What financial products exist, and how do they work?

Money management

How do I earn, spend, save and make financial decisions?

Total wealth planning

What life matters to me, and how can all my resources help me build it?

MoneyLaunch’s public description sits mainly in the middle. It includes elements that could support agency, but does not demonstrate an integrated approach to purpose, health, relationships, contribution, time and financial resources. The full teaching materials require educator access, so that assessment is necessarily provisional. Free Financial Literacy Programme for Schools

A fair distinction: “Learning to manage money is a foundation. Learning to shape your life is the wider task.”
